What is a Jot?

What is a Jot?

In SlideJot, the basic unit is a Jot. Think of it like a Tiddler in TiddlyWiki. Or a Note in other apps.

But I didn’t call it a Note. Here’s why.

SlideJot isn’t a note-taking app. It won’t replace Apple Notes, Obsidian, Notion, or Logseq. It complements them. It captures what’s in your head with zero friction.

The word “Note” felt wrong. Too serious. People organize Notes. They fuss over them.

I needed a different word. So I picked one: Jot.

A Jot is messy. Light. Free. It gives you permission to dump chaos from your brain onto the page.

Words shape behavior. Call it a Note, and you’ll treat it like one. Call it a Jot, and your brain relaxes. You stop organizing. You start capturing.

A Jot says: be messy. Stay unfinished. Writing matters more than tidying.

Different word. Different mindset.
