SlideJot SlideJot

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how SlideJot ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the SlideJot app for macOS, the SlideJot app for iPhone and iPad, and the slidejot.com website.

Privacy at a glance

  • Your jots belong to you. They are stored on your device, and — only if you enable iCloud sync — in your own iCloud account. We do not operate a cloud backend for your content and we cannot read your jots.
  • No accounts. SlideJot has no sign-up, login, or user profiles.
  • No tracking. The apps and the website contain no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. We do not sell or share personal data.

Your jots and attachments

Everything you write in SlideJot, including image attachments, is stored locally on your device — on macOS in your user Library folder, and on iOS inside the app's private container. Content stays on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you turn on iCloud sync, your jots and attachments are stored in the private CloudKit database of your own Apple ID and synced by Apple between your devices. This data is protected by your Apple ID credentials and Apple's security measures; we have no access to it and no server of ours ever receives it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off at any time in the app's settings.

Moving a jot to Trash does not delete it. Choosing Delete Forever removes the jot from your device and, when iCloud sync is enabled, schedules its deletion from your private CloudKit database through the normal sync process. Turning off iCloud sync or uninstalling the app does not itself erase records already stored in iCloud; because those records are private to your Apple ID, we cannot access or delete them on your behalf. To remove them, delete the jots in the app while sync is enabled, or manage your iCloud storage in your device settings.

SlideJot for iPhone and iPad

The iOS app is free, requires no account, and collects no data. Image features are optional and work like this:

  • Camera — the app asks for camera permission only when you choose to take a photo to insert into a jot.
  • Photos — existing images are selected through Apple's system Photos picker. SlideJot receives only the items you select and does not request broad photo library access.

Images you attach are stored with your jots on your device (and in your iCloud account if sync is enabled). They are never uploaded to us.

SlideJot for macOS

Trial

Trial state is stored locally on your Mac. No information about your trial is sent to us.

License activation

When you activate a paid license, the macOS app sends the following to our license server (app.slidejot.com): your license key, a device identifier derived from your Mac's hardware UUID, your device name (for example "MacBook Pro"), and your operating system name and version. We use this information solely to enforce the per-license device limit, to let you move your license between devices, and to provide support. It is retained for as long as your license is active. You can deactivate a device at any time to free up its seat, and you can email us to request deletion of activation records.

Software updates

The macOS app periodically checks releases.slidejot.com for updates. Like any web request, this involves standard technical information such as your IP address, which may appear in short-lived server logs. We do not use update checks to identify or profile you.

Purchases

macOS licenses are sold through Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe collects the billing information needed to complete your purchase; we never see your full card details. We receive the information required to deliver and support your license, such as your email address and purchase details. Stripe's handling of your data is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy. The iOS app contains no purchases.

The slidejot.com website

This website is a static site and uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Your theme preference (light or dark) is stored in your browser's local storage and never leaves your browser. The site is served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure may keep standard operational logs. The homepage embeds a YouTube video; if you play it, YouTube may set cookies and collect data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Support email

If you contact us at support@slidejot.com, we keep the correspondence so we can help you and improve SlideJot. We do not use support emails for marketing or share them with anyone.

Data retention and deletion

Your jots are under your control: delete them in the app, or remove the app to delete its local data. Jots already synced to iCloud remain in your private iCloud database until you delete them in the app with sync enabled. License activation records are kept while your license is active; email us to request deactivation or deletion. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to assist you.

Children's privacy

SlideJot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
